Has anybody ever asked any of these questions? May I ask a question? What is the show about? Beer and random silliness. Why did you choose beer as the topic? It seemed like a good idea at the time. It was also something everyone in the original panel enjoyed discussing. Are you professional beer judges? No, but we do know what we do and do not like. The ratings on our show are just our opinions on whether we think it is a good beer or not. If you would like more detailed ratings we would suggest Beer Advocate and ratebeer.com, both are great sites with detailed ratings. How do you get your ratings? We use a simple system. Everyone on the show give the beer a thumbs up, thumbs sideways, or a thumbs down. Thumbs up is 1 point. Thumbs sideways is 1/2 point. Thumbs down is 0 points. We take the points divided by the number of people on the show to get the rating. Example: If there are 5 panelists and the beer gets 4 points. We divide 4 by 5 and get an 80% approval rating. Is the podcast an excuse to try new beers? Yes Are you all raging alcoholics? No, we enjoy our beer. If you are drunk you stop tasting it. That defeats the purpose for us, well for most of us anyway. How do you select the week's beer? We either rely on listener recommendations or we use a advaced method. We like to call it "What looks interesting on the shelf". For hardware we use a dell laptop, a Behringer UB802 mixer, a MXL 990 mic and a Griffin iMic. On the software side we use CastBlaster. Our hosting is on libsyn.
